Bathtub Liners

As an alternative to bathtub replacement or bathtub refinishing, bathtub liners are an excellent choice for bathroom remodeling projects.  A bathtub liner is simply what the name implies, a permanent acrylic covering that is placed over an existing bathtub to make the structure look clean and new.  Shower liners are also available for shower remodeling projects.

Advantages to bathtub liners include ease of installation, lower expense, and less mess.  Installation only requires the new fixture to be placed over the existing tub. Bathtub liners cost less than bathtub installation mostly due lower installation fees since the process is not as involved. Cost can be cut even more by do it yourself bathtub liners. Because there is nothing that has to be removed to install a bathtub liner, there is virtually no mess to clean up after the project is complete.

Many homeowners choose to install acrylic bathtub liners because of the quick and easy installation and lower cost, but there are disadvantages to consider as well.  While the tub looks nice after the project, the actual problem hasn't been fixed but has only been covered up.  Trapped water, mold, or mildew can possibly lead to problems later on.  And, since the existing tub is covered up, the size of it is actually reduced slightly.
